Francois Gall was a Hungarian-born French painter best known for his impressionist style. His brushy oil paintings are largely inspired by the impressionist masters and often depict women engaged in typically female activities such as reading, sewing, ballet and fixing their hair. He also captured the French landscape, most notably the beach.
Gall's work remains enormously popular in France and particullarly in USA, where he had a huge following. He died in 1987 at the age of 77.
