Luis Feito is a Spanish painter, born in Madrid in 1929. His early works were figurative in style before discovering cubism, and evolved to abstraction. He was one of the founding members of the Madrid-based El Paso group (1957-1960), which emphasised an antiacademic, morally and socially resposible, innovative art of Spain.
In the late 1950's Feito created rich surfaces, often using sand to create texture in monochromatic scale colours. In the early 1960's he introduced the colour red into his compositions along with circular morifs, which gradually gave way to total geometrisation of colour.
He is the recipient of numerous awards that reflect his international achievement and his work can be found in the collections of many major art museums.
